For us Catholics, the Sacrament of Baptism is the first step in a lifelong journey of commitment and discipleship. Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting the embrace of God.
Here at the Cathedral we celebrate this Sacrament whenever possible. Parents are to contact the Archpriest during parish office hours. For this Sacrament one would need to have two Godparents (a male and a female) who are willing to be witnesses of God’s love through the child’s life and to assist him/her in living a Christian life. They therefore need to be Catholics who have received the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. Godparents who are not parishioners need to provide a signed declaration from their respective parish priest confirming their wish to be godparents.
