Cathedral Archives

Held within the walls of the Gozo Cathedral are the first Gozitan Church registers for Baptism, Marriages and Deaths. These records are not only of great value to the individual looking to build their family tree, but also give a glimpse into the background of life at the time. Such registeries have been transcribed and studied by locals and statistical and historical data and notes extracted accordingly. This service has been carried out by volunteers who have dedicated and continue to dedicate their time and knowledge for the benefit of the local community. Such registeries have been indexed and digitised to preserve the original copies and for ease of use.

The Cathedral Chapter also holds its archives wherby original manuscripts and documents are carefully indexed and organised with the help of kind volunteers looking to preserve our rich history.

Apart from the above, the Church also holds its own musical archives which has also been recently catalogued. Such archive holds original musical scores and manuscripts by local and foreign composers, both old and new.

Various articles, documents and studies have been held on all of the above whereby one can truly appreciate our rich history. One can find the latest articles related to the above in the latest publication
of the Ghid tal-Assunta.
